CLASS 3
Composition
Teacher: Tony Speciale
June 5, 2010, 11-2pm
COST: $30
Composition is the act of writing as a group, in time and space using the language of theatre. Participants will join instructor Tony Speciale (Associate Artistic Director, Classic Stage Company) in creating short pieces for the stage by putting together raw materials (music, movement, poetry and other text) into a form that is visceral, immediate and imaginative. This creative process demands cooperation and quick, intuitive decisions. Within a highly compressed amount of time, participants will collaborate to arrive at a solution to certain delineated tasks. These solutions, arranged and performed as mini plays, are what constitute a composition. Compositions can be used directly towards creating an original play, as research and exploration for a particular production or as ensemble building exercises. IDEAL FOR BOTH ACTORS AND DIRECTORS!
